 Soligorsk and Soligorsk district 2002:

The town of Soligorsk and Soligorsk district:

Soligorsk:
Demonstration of the film "Jesus Christ"
Sergei Divakov
Olga Vasilevskaya
Svetlana Melyanets

The town of Soligorsk has 400 000 people. It's a young town famous for its salt mines. There is a Baptist church with 120 members in it. First of all we thoroughly planned the showing of the film. We met the officials, got their permission, then invited people and spoke to them. After showing the film we spoke to people again, distributed Christian literature.

On the first day we showed the film in 3 villages, though there arouse the problem of transportation we managed to cope with it.

We showed the film in many villages. Usually there were present about 15-20 persons. A lot of people allowed us to use their houses, some of them belonged to Russian Orthodox church, some claimed to be unbelievers. Some people already watched the film, but overwhelming majority watched it for the first time. Most of the people never read the Gospel. Hey didn't know why Jesus came into this world.

We mostly showed the film in private houses, in some villages we were allowed to show it in the local Houses of Culture. In one House of Culture there was no heating, but about 100 people gathered there. We gave the New Testaments and Christian books to villagers, we even had to go to Minsk to take more books and booklets. We were sure God helped us in many ways especially with transportation. Officials usually were rather loyal and didn't create any problems.

On the very last day only one old man came to the show. He was very surprised that we were going to show the film only for him alone, but God blessed us and soon there were 17 people in the hall. We thank God for this wonderful opportunity to share Good News with so many people.
