Vileika:
Vileika is a small town situated in 70 miles from Minsk.
Four students came there for the project.
As in most cases the project included:
- Sharing four spiritual laws and personal evangelism
- Taking part in the church services, prayer and youth meetings, Sunday school and so on.
- Rendering of help to the missionary
In general the project in Vileika didn't differ from most of others, which you must have already read about.
We would like to write about the work with one person.
On one of the first days of our project while giving invitations we met a man who showed interest in spiritual issues, he had already read the Bible and the Lord began to touch his heart. On the first day we had three-hour conversation with him. We made an arrangement to meet next day in order to continue conversation that was interesting for both sides. This man's name is Sergey. Since many people break the promise to come "tomorrow" we prayed hard for that meeting and Sergey's repentance.
The Lord blessed Sergey and he came to continue the conversation and it was a good sign that the theme of salvation was not indifferent to him. Since it was raining hard that day we had plenty of time for our conversation. Together we watched the movie about dinosaurs ("Death of dinosaurs"), which helped Sergey to change his way of thinking. Sergey was even eager to help us to invite people to that movie and we gladly accepted his help. Sergey invited people and tried to explain them the truth of creation. We should say that he marvelously fulfilled that task. Knowing the town very well Sergey took us to the places in which we could be most effective.
That day was a great blessing for us; we learnt a lot and received much more we could have ever expected.
We spent a lot of time with our new friend Sergey talking and discussing a lot of things.
Sergey started attending church services and showed interest in what he heard there. It is very interesting to watch how people make their first steps, how their life changes.
We have gone now but we will always remember those blessed days. We continue praying for Sergey that he would make final decision in his life. Would you join us in our prayers?
