 Brest - Vulka 2003:

Brest - Vulka:

Brest is a modern city. There are Universities, shops, hospitals, markets, restaurants there. But the most famous attraction of the city are the Brest fortress and the Ice Palace. Each day especially on Sundays you can see multitudes of people heading to markets and shops. There are about 300 000 inhabitants. The percentage of young people is very high. There are many guests in the city because of highly developed industries and other businesses.

There are also many different churches in Brest Ö Orthodox, Catholic and Protestant as well. I had my ministry at one of six Baptist churches. There are 500 members at the church. The youth of the church is very active, they have a puppet show, a music group "Reflection", some choirs and a big Sunday school. Young people visit small churches in villages, help elderly and sick people. It was joyful to work with them. We had a common goal Ö reach out people for Christ.

We invited people to the Easter service. Some people listened to us, we tried to explain them the real meaning of Easter. Some left when they learned that we were Baptists. On Sunday their puppet show team went to a small village. We joined them. We had a very nice fellowship with kids and adults.

On Monday we took part in youth service at the church and afterwards we invited people in streets to the service on Tuesday. It was very hard to start a conversation with people. They took our invitations, read them but most of them did not respond in any way. At night we went to see a woman. She was a church-member, lived with her grand-daughter who was alcohol addicted. The woman (she was almost 100) was very thankful that we visited her and spoke with her grand-daughter.

On Tuesday our task was to speak with non-believers before and after the service. Before we prayed for those who took our invitations. We asked the Lord to lead them to the church to listen to the Gospel. But we were disappointed Ö no one whom we invited came. There were some but they came with the church members.

On Wednesday we were preparing a youth conference in Kobrin. We were very busy but happy.

During the conference I worked at the kitchen preparing food for the participants of the conference. I did MarthaÒs ministry. I praise the Lord that He allowed me to serve Him.
